0 chubby pouch

Yes, I made yet another pouch :). I simply can't help it these days. This pouch has been on my to do list for ages and I'm glad I finally found time to make it (pattern from Ayumi's book Patchwork, please!).

This is my second pouch using Ayumi's pattern for Triangle Patchwork Box Pouch. I made this pouch for my partner in Sewing Room Swap ages ago and I loved how gorgeously cute and chubby it turned out so I knew it was just the matter of time before I made one for myself.

Now, this is not one of those super quick instant gratification projects, this pouch took some time to sew together, especially the front and back patchwork. All that work, however, is totally worth is, even the hand sewn lining. 

I must admit, hand sewing anything when it comes to making pouches is not my favorite, but this was the best way to make the lining fit the pouch nicely - I used home decor weight fabric for the lining since I wanted the whole pouch to be sturdy and hold the shape on its own.

I think it turned out really cute and can't wait to fill it up with lots of odds and ends.

I've been about small finishes lately. It's really hot outside and that might be the reason I keep ignoring my large quilty projects and working on smaller things instead. Plus, the instant gratification is hard to resist :)

I made yet another one of Ayumi's fantastic trivets (this one is #3 for me).

I added one more row of triangular border (the dark one) to make the inside hexagon smaller than the original one, and I just adore how perfectly that flower fits right in.

More pretty flowers on the back, of course :)

 I just remembered I never showed you my trivet #2, oops! Here it is.

This one is for my MIL. She helped me choose all the fabrics and I love how the finished trivet reflects her sense of style.

Oh, and I made this very simple baby boy quilt. It's just two rows of blue/ gray/ black scraps joined together with some Kona I had on hand. It was inspired by this lovely quilt and must have been the quickest quilt I have ever made.

0 triangle patchwork box pouch

I've been eying Ayumi's triangle patchwork box pouch from her fantastic book Patchwork, please! for ages now and last night I finally decided to give it a go.

I spent way too much time digging through my scraps as well as my very precious text fabrics and decided to make a sort of subtle, low volume main panel which I paired with some wonderfully saturated Nordika prints. 

This pouch was a little tricky because of its boxy shape and the lining had to be hand-sewn in, but Ayumi gave such amazingly detailed instructions that the whole process went without any major hiccups. Oh, I did, at one point, cut the zipper too short and had to redo it, but that was only because I cut before I measured correctly, ooops. Lesson definitely learned.

I really like how sturdy, and roomy, and chunky looking this sweet pouch is. I might have to make another one in the near future as this one will probably go to live with my ~sewing room swap partner.
